Mai Xiang Yuan Dumpling Chinatown Reviews
Excellent dumplings, they taste home made and good price. Highly recommend for dumpling fans. We had the soup beef dumplings, the mushroom and cabbage and the dim sum shrimp ones. Cash only tho.
My favourite dumpling spot in Montreal! I wish they still had the fried tomato egg dumplings but we enjoyed the chicken curry ones a lot. Cucumber salad was delicious as well.
Whenever I come here I’m never left disappointed. The service is great and everyone there is kind. On the other hand the food is delicious! Now when it comes to the food I ordered 3 things: - Pork & Chives Xiao long baos - Pork & Shrimp Xiao long baos - Pan fried pork & chives dumplings The Xiao long baos (soup dumplings) were outstanding! The pork & chives ones have a light flavour and the soup is so flavourful. I wasn’t the biggest fan of soup dumplings before this restaurant. I found that the soup was more greasy somehow. The soup is light and the flavour just burst into your mouth. The pork & shrimp soup dumplings were on another level. If you aren’t able to eat shrimp I recommend the pork & chives! The pork & shrimp dumplings had so much flavour. The umami taste that leaves you wanting another one. I love how there is so many different types of dumplings on the menu too. The pan fried dumplings are great as well! You can’t go wrong with pan fried dumplings. I’m personally a fan of the chicken pan fried dumplings here but I decided to try the pork ones. The pork & chives are heavy but the crispness of the skin goes so well with the filling. There is also lots of seating and its cash only but they have a atm at the front! If you plan on going here I recommend!!
After a long bus tour, we were alighted at the China town gates, the tour guide recommendedstopto go into China Town. As we entered, Mai Xiang dumplings caught our eye. The staff was welcoming, and we sat and ordered Hot and Sour Soup, pan friend lamb, and pork dumplings. The soup was very good and so were the dumplings. Service was excellent.
Very delicious dumplings. I shared with my friends and we split the bill, and the price in total was quite fair or “cheaper than I expected.” The staff was also very friendly. A staff we talked to was multilingual, speaking Chinese (Mandarin and Canton), Japanese, English and French it was mind blowing.
these dumplings are really so tasty!! we had all of ours boiled, we tried beef, pork and lamb, as well as the shrimp dumplings and the siu mai. everything was just so good!! the beef ones especially. the service was fast and the staff was really nice; it is a really good, cozy family-owned dumpling restaurant!! would definitely come back also, i must say, it is cash only!! but they do have an atm at the front of the restaurant.
Mai Xiang Yuan is an absolute gem that delivers an unforgettable culinary experience from start to finish. We began our meal with two refreshing cold starters: the Cucumber Salad and Wood Ear Mushroom Salad—both perfectly seasoned with just the right balance of garlic, vinegar, and sesame oil. Each bite was crisp, clean, and packed with flavour. But the star of the appetizer round was definitely #55: the Cilantro and Black Mushroom Salad. Earthy, aromatic, and beautifully balanced, it offered a unique texture and taste that elevated the entire dining experience For the main event, we shared an order of fried pork and cabbage dumplings—crispy on the outside and juicy within, each dumpling bursting with well-seasoned filling that left us wanting more. The boiled lamb and spring onion dumplings were equally exceptional: tender, comforting, and infused with the subtle sweetness of spring onion that paired beautifully with the richness of the lamb. Everything was made even better with a couple of cold Tsingtao beers to wash it all down. The pairing of the dumplings and Tsingtao was nothing short of perfect—light, refreshing, and incredibly satisfying. Service was prompt, friendly, and welcoming. This is a spot where tradition meets quality, and every dish reflects the care and craft of true culinary artistry. We’ll be back—soon, and often.
The food was absolutely amazing! Although I had to wait an extremely long time for the food. The juicy dumplings are truly juicy. For a cheap price, you get heaven in your mouth!
